Arsenal boosted in Ryan Fraser transfer pursuit after latest update on contract stance – Express

Ryan Fraser is expected to run down his contract at the Vitality Stadium despite having an offer on the table from Bournemouth.

Fraser registered the second-most Premier League assists (14) last season, one behind Eden Hazard, along with seven goals.

His performances reportedly led Arsenal to enquiring about his availability but Bournemouth were determined to keep the winger.

Fraser’s deal with The Cherries expires on July 1 next year and the Scotsman has so far resisted improved offers from the club.

It was claimed earlier this year that Fraser was willing to see out his contract in order to keep control of his future.

The Athletic claim nothing has changed on this end despite an offer, which is open to negotiation, on the table.

“The offer of a new long-term contract has been on the table for Ryan for some time,” read a statement from Bournemouth chief executive Neill Blake in June.

“In September 2018, at the request of Ryan’s representative, negotiations were paused to allow the player to focus entirely on his football.

“He went on to have an outstanding season, with seven goals and 14 assists helping the club secure a fifth successive season of Premier League football.

“During that time, I have been – and continue to be – in regular dialogue with Ryan’s representative, and have made it clear to both him and the player that our contract offer remains on the table.”

Fraser was flattered by reported interest from Arsenal last season and is known as an ambitious player who first and foremost wants to improve and achieve as a footballer, as opposed to chasing lucrative contracts.

“I’m not going to lie, it’s very nice,” he said of interest from the Gunners.
