Arsenal given injury scare as Dani Ceballos pulls out of Euro 2020 qualifier – Mirror Online

Arsenal star Dani Ceballos has undergone an MRI scan after an injury scare with Spain this week.

The player on loan from Real Madrid has been instrumental in Arsenal’s season so far with two assists and a goal in 11 appearances.

He has been a key player under Unai Emery since his arrival, and his injury will be a serious concern for his boss who has already lost striker Alexandre Lacazette to an ankle problem.

Ceballos’s solid form this season earned him a call-up to Robert Moreno’s Spain squad as they look to continue their strong start to their Euro 2020 campaign.

Spanish newspaper AS reports that Ceballos had to end training early on Tuesday after having muscular pains and underwent the scan the next day.

Although a serious injury has been ruled out, Ceballos will likely miss Spain’s Euro 2020 qualifying match against Norway this weekend to rest as a precaution.

Ceballos complained of a problem in his hamstring, with fatigue suggested as a possible cause for the injury, most likely due to a busier schedule in England than he has previously been used to in Spain.

Following the fixture against Norway, La Roja then face Sweden on Tuesday, but whether they will risk Ceballos when they are already seven points clear at the top of their Euro 2020 group remains to be seen.

Arsenal and Ceballos have both hinted they would be happy to extend his loan at the end of the season much to the delight of the club’s fans.

While speaking to the press on international duty Ceballos said he was enjoying his time as a Gunner.

“Going to Arsenal has been a very important step in my career,” he said.
