We’re a week into the international break and for many of the Arsenal squad it’s about rest and recovery.
A positive start to the Premier League season has propelled the Gunners up to third in the table after losing only once since the start of the campaign.
Despite facing plenty of tough tests, that one defeat came against runaway leaders Liverpool who look set to enjoy a memorable season.
Unai Emery’s side have had a fair few injuries so far this term but with a week until the next fixture, the hope is to see some of those faces back out on the pitch in the weeks ahead.
Here’s the latest injury news and recovery dates from London Colney.
Emile Smith Rowe
The attacking midfielder started the game against Nottingham Forest in the Carabao Cup but was taken off after a clash of heads.
Sources close to the player have confirmed to football.london that Smith Rowe suffered a concussion and no damage to his head. Having been assessed by the club’s medical staff he was driven home.
Smith Rowe was not involved for the clash with Standard Liege, with Emery confirming that he needed longer to recover.
“Now he’s not ready for tomorrow. He needs more days to rest before he starts training with us.”
Although the 19-year-old didn’t make the squad for the visit of Bournemouth, the midfielder should be available after the international break.
Arsenal were dealt a major injury blow, when the club confirmed that the striker will be out of action until at least October with an ankle injury.
A statement via the club’s official website read: “After assessments to an ongoing ankle issue, we have advised that Alex will need to rest and strengthen his ankle to regain full fitness.
“Alex has been playing through this injury for several weeks. He is likely to be back in action in October.”
The striker will now be nearing a comeback, with the international break providing a good opportunity for the Frenchman to step up his rehabilitation.
In their latest injury update, the Gunners confirmed that the striker is making good progress in his rehabilitation and is on track to be back fit this month.
Mavropanos has struggled with injuries during his brief spell at Arsenal.
A groin strain kept the Greek defender out for much of the 2018/19 season and while he returned towards the end of the campaign, a further groin injury hampered his progress further during pre-season.
However, in an injury boost to Arsenal the 21-year-old has been playing regularly for the Under-23’s.
Although he has not yet been included in a match day squad for the first team, Mavropanos’ shirt was hanging up in the dressing room in the Carabao Cup game against Nottingham Forest, and the defender has posted a video of himself taking part in first team training ahead of the game against Bournemouth.

Reiss Nelson has pulled out of the England Under-21 squad with a knee injury.
The Arsenal winger had been called-up by Aidy Boothroyd for the upcoming internationals against Slovenia and Austria, but withdrew from the squad on Monday alongside Wolves’ Morgan Gibbs-White and Manchester United’s Mason Greenwood.
Nelson’s withdrawal is a slight concern for Arsenal and it is understood he will miss three weeks with the injury.
Arsenal have been handed a potential injury scare with the news that Dani Ceballos is struggling with a hamstring injury.
AS are reporting that the midfielder is doubtful for Spain’s clash with Norway on Saturday.
Ceballos is suffering with a ‘hamstring overload’ which kept him out of a session on Wednesday morning.
Mesut Ozil was again left out of the matchday squad against Bournemouth, but the midfielder is fully fit.
Nicolas Pepe and Bukayo Saka were all substituted in the last match, but there is no injury concerns over the duo.
