BT Sport pundits Michael Owen and Martin Keown have compared Arsenal and Manchester United after both sides enjoyed differing experiences in the Europa League on Thursday evening.
The Red Devils struggled at AZ Alkmaar as they were held to a 0-0 draw in Holland but Arsenal on the other hand showed the capabilities of their fringe players by dispatching Standard Liege 4-0 at the Emirates.
Gabriel Martinelli bagged a brace as the 18-year-old shone in the capital, with Unai Emery’s men cruising to their second consecutive Europa League group stage victory of the season.
After the match, both Liverpool great Owen and Arsenal legend Keown spoke about the difference between the set-ups at the Gunners and United respectively.
“They are coming into a more settled structure at Arsenal, I can see what they are trying to deliver,” Keown told BT Sport.
“Each player is almost a copy, you can see the midfield is structured, it’s a better balance.
“It’s almost a wing and a prayer at Manchester United but for these, it’s a better platform.”
Owen added: “Some players aren’t good enough, that’s the problem.
“At Manchester United, with all due respect, if they had a very solid team, some of them wouldn’t necessarily be given a chance.

“You can say it’s harsh on them but it’s not.
“It’s great that they’ve played for Manchester United and now they can go on to have a nice career elsewhere if they fail to make it.”
